This isn’t just another internet Science Fiction movie list.

This is The SnarkAlecs suggested SyFy movie watching list. Melissa (@Karmic9) and I put our heads together and came up with what we believe are the 25 best, worst, cheesiest and enjoyable movies that we love and hate. We didn’t use any scientific methods, polls or crystal balls to come up with this list, it’s simply our opinion. @TonySolo

The list is comprised of our (Melissa's and Mine) personal favorite SyFy movies, some really good and some bad but they have all contributed to SnarkAlec culture. Snowmageddon is a great example, it was pretty much loathed by everyone except @passiko (LOL) but the SNOWGLOBE will be referenced every Saturday night. More on Snowmaggedon later.

I’ve tried to lump these films into different genres and here is what I’ve come up with. Horror and Paranormal, Creature Features, Disaster and Zombie movies. Some of these can be put into sub categories and some may actually be in more than one.

While most of the Horror and Paranormal themed movies live on SyFys’ sister channel Chiller, we sometimes are given a glimpse into the spooktacular. House of Bones, Haunted High and American Horror House make the list because they got they job done.

The stories, acting and casting  were pretty darn good and we were gifted with some great death scenes. House of Bones easily could have been a successful theatrical release and is worth watching just to see Charisma Carpenter hock up a fur ball.

I guess my next genre is Creature Features. The next 3 movies are in a sub category I call Myths, Legends and Fairytales. This is where I would put the movies Bigfoot (Yes @Bigfoot__ you aren’t real)

Black Forest and Boogeyman. Black Forest had a Nightmare on Elm Street vibe to it and it is based on many Fairy Tales. You can read Mels blurb on Black Forrest on her side of the page, more on Bigfoot later.

Boogeyman starred Eddie McClintock (who was and is an active tweeter) of Warehouse13 fame and centered around the origins of the Boogeyman. Good deaths of annoying teens in this one, that’s what made this movie significant. We had a stretch of movies where the teen characters were whiny little turds and we were happy to see them die. The bloodier the better.

Now we get to the Creatures! I love Creature Features! Whether they are man-made or natural. Sometimes we root harder for the creature than the people. Especially when its BIG OIL that caused it to happen man! This happens to be a common thread that flows through many of these SyFy films.

Pirahnaconda is a “legendary” creature that they just made up, it’s a Mash-up creature. A Mash-up creature is when you squish two different animals together and you create a killing machine. In this case they have mixed the body of an anaconda with the head and mouth of a piranha. Pirahnaconda was done well and this movie has it all. Great sound track, nerd girls, nerd girls in bikinis #WHANOGGY and bad guys!

If that’s not enough, SyFy created a @PirahnaConda acct that tweeted for more than a week prior to the Premiere of the movie. It was brilliant. I think it was also the first time SyFy gave out a movie prop to a lucky fan on twitter.

The lucky fan was our own @kellythul and he won the Pirahnaconda egg used by Micheal Madsen in the movie. This film is also notable for the famous “Crazy for CooCoo Puffs” quote.

Sharktopus is another Mashup movie creature, part shark and part octopus and controlled by humans. Then it all goes wrong!  Sharktopus is notable for its wealth of exceptional death scenes including the “Oh no not like this” and the newly web Bungee Snack. Sharktopus leads us in to Shark movies.

Sand Sharks was somewhat a spoof of Jaws, and it worked. It was funny and stupid at the same time. Corin Nemec was in this and Dragon Wasps (The Report), I’m looking forward to his next few movies.

Jersey Shore Shark Attack was a parody of the Jersey Shore, with an all-star cast including Paul Sorvino and Vinny Guadagnino of the Jersey shore. This movie was so much fun to watch and tweet. Several members of the cast were live tweeting during the premiere and interacted many of us (myself included) and again, its always a plus when this happens. Everyone enjoyed the over top performances of the actors including the best cameo death of Joey Fatone! My girls and I watched have seen this movie at least 10 times since it was released in June 2012.

Swamp Shark and Super Shark are going to fill out the Shark category.  Melissa did a great job on Swamp Shark she has this covered. I just wanted to add that, I loved Swamp Shark and I can’t say enough how much I respect Griff Furst @GEFURST. He produces, directs and acts, check out his IMDB page here. He ALWAYS live tweets whenever one of his projects premieres and is usually very responsive.

Super Shark is one of those movies that you just have to see, be forewarned it’s not about to get nominated for any awards, ever. Jimmie “JJ” Walker plays a DJ and he hosts a Bikini contest. There are a ton of Bikinis in this movie and some eye candy for the ladies too.Bikinis are everywhere and there is also an Army Tank that has legs, Gerald Webb as Private Roth and some more Bikinis.

Arachnoquake, An earthquake triggers a giant spider attack on the city of New Orleans, yes spiders as big as some houses and plenty of them. Is this a Disaster movie? First it turns out it’s a manmade disaster (Big Oil Man!) but its all about the spiders. Arachnoquake is directed by Griff Furst, and has many memorable scenes such has Edward Furlong showing us how to make Jambalaya and Megan Adelle’s spider stomp and Tarzan yell. It has the craziest ending ever with Bug Hall being the hero. Arachnoquake is also notable because the SnarkAlecs did not find the teens annoying in this movie and deserving of a nice slow death, excluding the girls in the bus that is.

Bigfoot, like Jersey Shore Shark attack, had it all. Star power (?) Barry Williams (Greg Brady) and Danny Bonaduce (Danny Partridge) as rivals. This formula worked much better in  Megapython vs Gatoroid (More on this one later) The second most popular cameo death in a SyFy movie of Alice Cooper. @Kellthul will argue that Cooper being punted by the title character should have been the #1 cameo death.

Megapython vs Gatoroid was a joy too watch, the plot centered around Dr. Nikki Riley (played by former teen Pop Star Deborah Gibson) and Terry O’Hara (Played by Tiffany another former teen Pop Star) opposing each other in the Florida everglades. This movie also featured Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees dieing as an unwilling dinner guest of a Megapython.

The premise of this movie is simple pythons and gators on steroids (really on steroids, I shit you not) battle for supremacy in the Florida everglades. Are you old enough to remember when Tiffany and Debbie Gibson battled it out on radio station across America? If you answered yes, you will appreciate the fight they have that is peppered with song lyrics from their respective hit songs. They end of this movie brought whoops of laughter to everyone.

What can I say, I love bad movies. Thankfully, the people over at Syfy know this and keep cranking them out. So @TonySolo and I have put a list of of our favorites together for your enjoyment. If you haven't seen any of these, please fix this posthaste. Here's our list of our top 25 movies we love shown on the Syfy channel, plus a couple we just love to hate. Snowmageddon, I'm talking to you. You too Ice Twisters.

Oh, Swamp Shark, how I love you. This is the one I've watched over and over. I don't know why, maybe because it was one of my first movies with the #SnarkAlecs and the warm fuzzies just keep on going. Anyway, it's a classic starring Kristy Swanson, D.B. Sweeney, Robert Davy, and Allison Victoria (@allisonvic), and directed by Griff Furst (@gefurst). One of the best things about Syfy Saturday movies shines forth when the people involved with the show tweet along with us. What's the story, you ask? Basically a mean ass weirdo species of shark ends up in the Louisiana bayou and people die. Also there are gators. And bikinis.

Speaking of celebrities, we've got a few here featuring some celebrity deaths. This is so popular, there was an award for best celebrity death. The 2012 Snarkie went to Mr. Joey Fatone for Jersey Shore Shark Attack. Though, Alice Cooper's death scene in Bigfoot was pretty awesome too.

My favorite line comes from Sharktopus, “Not like this!” Giggle. It brings a smile to my face every time. It's just what you think it is, a shark smooshed together with an octopus. Damn meddling-with-nature humans. Eric Roberts stars as the bad guy. That surely wasn't a surprise, right?
Sharktopus

If you haven't seen Zombie Apocalypse you are missing out. Really people, see it. The awesome @Syfy (Craig Engler) himself wrote it. Yes, we have Mr. Engler to thank for killing off our beloved Gerald Webb (@geraldwebb) again. Ving Rhames stars as well. It's pretty self explanatory. Zombies. Apocalypse. You get the picture. Also in the zombie genre, we have Rise of the Zombies, which gave rise to the “Zombie Baby Stomp” SnarkAlecs reference. You just had to be there. It stars Mariel Hemingway and LeVar Burton. And if I have to tell you who he is, I will slap you.

Another favorite, American Horror House, starred Morgan Fairchild, as an evil, evil woman. I know, that's shocking isn't it? We were also graced with her participation on twitter, so color us ecstatic! This one has some really creepy stuff and an epic ending. I love it. Oh, did I mention it's a sorority house? I thought you'd like that.
American Horror House

Haunted High was another creep fest set in a high school. Shocked? I didn't think so. This one featured Danny Trejo getting his ass kicked by a dead ghost and his coven. This one had some pretty inventive deaths, which is always a plus. And one of the actors, Shawn Phillips (@shawncphillips) tweeted along!

Continuing the creepy movies, is House of Bones. Charisma Carpenter of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame was featured in this one as well as Corin Nemec. Mr. Nemec is appearing in a lot of our movies these days and that's not a bad thing! House of Bones had a lot of creepy mixed in with the funny. Essentially, the house is slowly eating the ghost hunters that are investigating it. Makes you think twice, huh?
House of Bones

Speaking of creepy, Black Forest was another one that I love for just one scene. Cannibal Dwarfs. Really. You have to see this scene. It's haunting.

Mammoth. I might be the only person to love this movie, but I'm sticking to my guns. This is an oldie, I mean it was still the SciFi Channel back then! It came out in 2006 and stars Vincent Ventresca (of SciFi's Invisible Man series), Summer Glau (of Firefly, etc...) and Tom Skerritt! Essentially, a mammoth sort of gets brought back to life with a little alien intervention and rampages through town. Shut up. I loved it.

Morlocks was another favorite of mine. David Hewlett (Stargate Atlantis) starred. If the title sounds familiar, it's because it is very loosely based on “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells. The morlocks were cool and the government not so much. All this equals a big 'ol “Yay!” from me. Mr. Hewlett (@dhewlett) is also very active on twitter and happily tweeted along with us.
Morlocks

Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus. How to explain? Well, it stars Jaleel White, the host of Syfy's Total Blackout, and Urkel from Family Matters. Robert Picardo is also present and accounted for. There's a really big shark and a really big crocodile. The shark eats a plane. Right out of the sky no less. What's not to love? This one also featured Gerald Webb, who lives! Gasp!

Now to my least favorite Syfy movie genre, the weather disaster movie. Ice Twisters. I'll be honest folks, this one only makes this illustrious list for one reason: It has magical “gas station wifi”. It does. Really. So when you see us reference the wondrous and spectacular thing that is gas station wifi, you'll know what we're talking about. Premise: we used little robots to mess with nature and she got really, really pissed.

Finally, my friends, let me introduce you to the horror that is Snowmageddon. It's bad. Really bad. There was no snow. Someone explain to me how you have a movie called Snowmageddon without any snow. I'm still confused. Oh right, the magically evil Snowglobe is to blame. There is no snow, there was lava. Snow. Lava. What? Snowglobe is now thrown out as an expression of ludicrous horror at our current crop of Syfy movies. The memory of the horror has faded a little, but the pain will never leave me.

So what do you think folks? Love 'em, hate 'em? Think I need to get a life? I already know that by the way. My mother calls to remind me just in case I've suffered a head injury and forgotten.

Poster I won for Arachnoquake

Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus is the other VS movie on our list. Giant creatures and Jaleel White and his Sonic Spheres, what more could you want? This movie was very popular with the SnarkAlecs because @GeraldWebb didn’t die and it had all the elements  required to make snarking easy.

Frankenfish : manmade fish eats people in the swamps of Louisiana, death ensues. This one has been around since 2004 and it’s as good as any B movie gets. If this movie doesn’t make you giggle at least once stop watching SyFy movies. Tune your TV to the Hallmark channel. Now break your remote.

Ferocious Planet,  When a device designed to peer into alternate universes malfunctions, the shit hits the fan and much running through the forest is accomplished by the survivors.  I’d recommend everyone put this near the top of their must watch list.

Finally Zombie movies, I think it is well known that Melissa and I are extreme Zombie fans. Im going to keep my piece here short

Rise of the Zombies. Zombie Baby Stomp that’s all im saying. Loved it, had Machete and Zombies

The myth that @geraldwebb dies in every SyFy movie he appears in began with Zombie Apocalypse. His character Kevin is attacked and eaten by zombies in the first 10 minutes. Good zombies in this one although the special effects budget was low probably because Ving Rhames was in the cast.
