SAVAGE WOLVERINE # 2 WRITTEN AND DRAWN BY FRANK CHO  DISTRIBUTED BY MARVEL COMICS

Frank Cho is a local Baltimore guy, technically Beltsville who has hit it big in Marvel. He is allowed to write and drawn Wolverine, perhaps Marvel's most popular character? You could make a case for him, or Spider-Man, or hell even Deadpool, who I despise. Anyhoo, as part of Marvel's soft Reboot of their comics, this is the only solo Wolverine book out there, for now. Another is coming soon from a great writer by the name of Paul Cornell. Anyhoo again, Cho has the opportunity to draw what he likes with this new series. How? With  Women, violence, and dinosaurs.

I reviewed the first issue as my first ever review for my section, so I figured, why not review the next one. The quick recap. Shanna the she Devil a woman who lives in the Savage Land a prehistoric land hidden on the Earth is showing some SHIELD agents a mysterious island. The power goes out and the are set upon by savages and dinosaurs. Only Shanna has survived. A few months later Wolverine just appears on the same island. He finds Shanna who he knows and she tells him about what is going on. They are on an island that wont allow them to leave, they cannot communicate with the outside world, but there may be a chance if they climb a mountain and try to destroy the dampening field coming from there. They are attacked and Wolverine is dropped by a Pterodactyl from high in the sky.

Issue 2, he crashes lands and is injured, but keeps moving. He needs to let his healing factor have a chance to heal him, but he si set upon again by dinosaurs. Shanna finds him and they try to keep moving toward the mountain while taking on the dinosaurs. Wolverine's healing factor is being tested since he has not had time to rest so he is not moving as he usually does. Shanna appears to run away from a pack of Dinosaurs who start attacking Wolverine, but he leads them to a trap Shanna has set up for them. And they head for the mountain. But that's not all.

I am not a big reader of Marvel anymore, so I don't know alot of the newer characters. # 2 actually opens with another person being beamed to the island. I did not recognize him, but eventually he reveals himself to be Amadeus Cho, who is a character that first appeared about 5 years ago during the Planet Hulk storyline. He was a friend of the Hulk's and one of the smartest people on the planet, then he teamed up with Hercules for his own book. Cho has a personal forcefield he uses and also talks to a computer which might be inside of him, or in a satellite orbiting earth. i don't know, and this is where Frank Cho fails a little. I had read a little about Amadeus Cho, so I knew the name, I just did not know what his powers were, and Frank really does not give any inkling in the book who he is. It's almost as if we are supposed to know who he is, and I didn't until he said his name. Amadeus finds some of the natives and becomes their god by using his powers. That's it. So that was my only nitpick. Again the art is gorgeous, but the story left a little to be desired. Still a fun read though.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 4  WRITTEN BY DAN SLOTT  PENCILS BY GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI  INKS BY EDGAR DELGADO DISTRIBUTED BY MARVEL COMICS

I reviewed Superior Spider-man # 1 not long ago, and I figured I would bring you all up to speed on how the series is going. To those who may not remember SPOILER WARNING!
Dr. Octopus one of Spider-man's oldest memories has transferred his mind into the body of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Peter's mind was transferred to Ock's dying body. Ock's body died and we assumed Peter's mind died as well. But before he died he convinced Ock to be a good person, so Ock has tried to be the best Spider-Man he can be. Peter is still lingering in some kind of ghost form commenting on what is going on while trying to figure a way back into his head. Ok? OK.

So here we are at # 4. Ock has shown to be the best Spider Man he can be by being efficient. He has created spider drones that patrol the city and inform him when something is going on, J.Jonah Jameson who was once Spidey's greatest enemy is now using him as his very own Batman. Whenever he needs Spidey's help he contacts him and Spidey helps. He has been creating amazing inventions at his job, and has paid a bit more attention to Peter's support staff like Mary Jane and Aunt May. Peter is still fuming that Ock is doing a better job of Spider-Man but he still sees Ock being a condescending worm with a violent streak in him. The newest thing that gets Peter fuming is that Ock ignores a report of a fire that has broken out nearby. He learns that firemen have been dispatched so he figures let them do their job, he needs to help Aunt May with her rehab. Peter is angry at this. Ignoring a fire? What if people are trapped? Well Peter, I side with Ock on this. Firemen are on their way. Let them do their job, you don't have to do everything.

Ock also learns there is a villain by the name of Massacre on the loose. He's just a psychotic guy who has no problem killing anyone or anything. Peter took him on a while back after he killed J. Jonah Jameson's wife. He vowed that no one else would die and that Massacre would never escape. Peter was wrong on both points, and again Ock makes an interesting insight. How can you promise that no one else dies? It is inconceivable to believe you can stop death. So far Ock is 2 for 2, showing a more cold logic, but he vows to JJJ that he will bring him down.

We also see Ock, go back to Peter's job where he creates an artificial leg machine that could help Aunt May walk without a cane. The owner of the lab does not like the sound of human experimentation and Ock in his condescending way calls himself Dr. Peter parker...except Peter never got his doctorate. He was 1 credit shy. So Ock is furious, so he decides to have Peter go back to school to become a Doctor, where he runs into an old classmate whom he despised, who is now the teacher of the Class Peter needs to become a Doctor.

This story could be fun. Other than that we see Massacre in action, and also get an interesting cliff-hanger cameo which leads me to say, I kinda like this new spider-man story. I thought I would hate it, but it is actually quite fun to read and the art is gorgeous.

I am surprised that I eagerly await every new issue to see where Slott goes with the story. But so far, kiind of interesting. I especially can't wait to see what Slott has Ock Spider man do against the surprise cameo at the end of the issue. Should be fun. Camuncoli's art is clean and gorgeous and I really enjoy it. I hope he stays on for longer than 1 issue.
